Salisbury Christian School is seeking an experienced and energetic part-time Spanish Teacher for our Lower School. This individual will be responsible for developing and implementing an introductory language curriculum for Kindergarten through 5th Grade. Qualified applicants should be fluent in Spanish, have experience with elementary age students, and display an active faith in Jesus Christ. This is a part-time position (4 days per week, 10:15 am - 3:15 pm) during the approximately 10-month school year.
JOB PURPOSE:
A teacher at Salisbury Christian School is more than an instructor — they are a disciple-maker who brings their faith into every dimension of classroom life. This role encompasses all aspects of planning, organizing, and implementing an effective instructional program across our PreK–12 learning environment, grounded in a Biblical worldview that shapes curriculum, relationships, and culture. SCS educators guide and encourage students at every stage of development to reach their full academic potential while nurturing their spiritual growth in Christ.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION:
- Demonstrate deep knowledge of subject matter and the developmental characteristics of the students they teach;
- Design and deliver effective instruction using sound pedagogical practices — including clear presentation, purposeful questioning, responsive teaching, and well-structured learning activities;
- Inspire a love of learning and cultivate genuine, caring relationships with students;
- Prepare weekly lesson plans that integrate Biblical truth, articulate clear learning objectives, and incorporate varied activities, assessments, and resources;
- Provide a variety of learning materials and resources to support proper differentiation of instruction;
- Utilize assessment data purposefully to monitor student progress and inform instructional decisions;
- Incorporate technology meaningfully to enhance and extend learning;
- Implement effective classroom management practices that foster a positive, orderly environment conducive to learning;
- Regularly review and update curriculum maps to ensure appropriate pacing, scope, and instructional priorities;
- Maintain accurate and complete student records and school documentation as required;
- Partner proactively with parents through timely communication including posted assignments, grades, and conferences, in support of each student's academic and behavioral growth;
- Integrate Biblical principles and a Christian philosophy of education across all subjects, activities, and interactions;
- Model authentic Christian faith in classroom culture, relationships, and daily practice;
- Help students understand and embrace their identity and worth in Christ, supporting them in making God-honoring choices;
- Embrace and reflect the mission, vision, and foundational beliefs of SCS in all communications and conduct, representing the school professionally to its constituency and the general public;
- Cultivate meaningful relationships with students, staff, and families, motivating students to accept God's gift of salvation and helping them grow in their faith;
- Demonstrate initiative, a strong work ethic, and consistent follow-through on all projects;
- Keep the Administration informed of any known serious issues that may impact the school;
- Address conflict with students, parents, staff, and Administration respectfully and privately, according to the Matthew 18 principle;
- Know and follow all procedures for emergency situations, exercising sound judgement.
SUPPLEMENTAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION:
- Supervise extracurricular activities, organizations, and outings as assigned;
- Utilize educational opportunities and evaluation processes for professional growth;
- Provide input and constructive recommendations for administrative and managerial functions in the school;
- Support the broader program of the school by attending extracurricular activities when possible;
- Perform any other duties that may be assigned by the Administration.
REQUIRED SPIRITUAL QUALITIES:
- Have received Jesus Christ as your personal Savior;
- Believe that the Bible is God’s Word and standard for faith and daily living;
- Be in whole-hearted agreement with Salisbury Christian School’s Foundational documents;
- Be a Christian role model in attitude, speech, and actions toward others including a commitment to God’s Biblical standards for sexual conduct (Luke 6:40);
- Be a member in good standing at an evangelical church that has a Statement of Faith in agreement with the SCS Statement of Faith;
- Show by example the importance of Scripture study and memorization, prayer, witnessing, and unity in the Body of Christ;
- Recognize the role of parents as primarily responsible before God for their children's education and be prepared to serve and support them in that calling;
- Have the Spiritual maturity, academic ability, and personal leadership qualities to “train up a child in the way he should go.”

WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

Minimum of 3 years teaching experience preferred.
EDUCATIONAL EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in area of instruction or a related area;
- Master’s degree preferred;
- Licensure by a state and/or regional accrediting agency preferred.
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The physical demands of the position are ones typically found in a school setting. The employee must have the ability to:
- Sit and stand for extended periods of time;

- Exhibit manual dexterity to enter data into a computer;
- Possess close vision, distance vision, and depth perception;

- Hear and understand speech at normal classroom levels;
- Speak in audible tones so as to be understood clearly in normal classrooms.
